Are You Paying For Website Traffic?

Paying For Website Traffic

Traffic generation is the lifeblood of any business. Once you have a website, you need targeted, qualified traffic to generate sales.

There are a variety of ways to generate traffic. In this article, I will cover some of the different methods and explain what they are. You may have seen a lot of paid advertising and wonder at how it can be so expensive.

Some of the most popular examples of online advertising are Pay Per Click (PPC) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO). PPC programs such as Google AdWords and Yahoo Search Marketing charge you a set amount per visitor and then show your webpage whenever a visitor does a search or query that matches what was in your ad! The thing that does not or usually comes out as income is that your results increase as the advertising cost goes up. This is usually favorable for those who advertise the most so as to maximize their ROI.

A friend who is Denver painters and uses SEO told me how it’s helped his business, “SEO is in general different from PPC. SEO is free, you simply optimize your content by adding keywords to link to other pages on your site. Search engines look for very specific keywords within your website. The higher you rank on the page the more you will be displayed on any page that has your keywords or describes what they specifically see on your site. Keyword optimizers for your site usually help have ads that are loaded with the right percentage of keywords. A loud complex website is an example of a poor page and Google will not show up on it.”

Google has a PPC program called AdWords. Google AdWords is an ideal place for Allan Anime and Old Spice to reach huge amounts of potential customers. Allan’s product is “ICK”. Allan sells to otters. The page Allan recommends goes to a page where Allan shows some cute or funny otters stealing otters and generally has some otter-centric lines. The page itself is not difficult to optimize for the search engines. Allan should pay only PPC for his ad because his product is otters and Google will also display it in sites where it is pushed, in plain site pages.

Using these methods, Allan creates a wonderful stream of users for a possible niche targeted niche market. The biggest drawback to using PPC is that Allan spends more per click than most of his competitors. He becomes so successful with PPC that he believes it is driving him to his riches. He claims he can earn too much money with PPC, in fact, he claims he could create his very own PPC strategy! It would be great if every AdWords offers similar results: ran at a loss, generating money; but how long can one accountant get away with that unsure.
